Singing since the age of 5 and performing live by the time she was 9 years old, vocal powerhouse Alexandra Burke – who has sold more than four million records worldwide – has a signature soulful sound that was crafted throughout a childhood filled with music.

Melissa Cecelia Ewen Bell, Burke’s mother, known to many as the ‘last leading lady’ of hit group Soul II Soul, took her to perform every weekend wherever they could find a live band. The British star’s amazing voice and vocal range developed quickly, capturing the heart of legendary recording artist Stevie Wonder, who wanted to sign her to Motown at age 12. From that point forward, offers for a record deal kept coming in yet education remained the top priority. It wasn’t until age 16 that Burke first auditioned for UK’s “The X Factor,” but as fate would have Alexandra was not chosen to compete. Turning a setback into an opportunity, she took time to perfect her skill and came back to win the shows title in 2008.

A pure talent Alexandra can belt out a ballad with the best of them, as shown in her beautiful duet with Beyoncé during “The X Factor” finale. Fresh off this amazing win, the three-time chart-topper debuted a stirring cover of “Hallelujah” which sold 105,000 copies on its first day of release. She went on to drop the UK No. 1 album, Overcome, featuring collaborations with hip-hop superstar Flo Rida, R&B hit-maker Ne-Yo and RedOne.

Sadie & the Hot Heads

Sadie and the Hotheads were born in 2007 when Elizabeth McGovern took guitar lessons from Steve Nelson. Steve encouraged Elizabeth to begin to write her own songs. After a collection had been composed Steve introduced Elizabeth to Simon Nelson who started recording the songs and put together a band of musicians to support the project.

There is a strong 'Country' influence throughout. However, the audience are kept on their toes with a surprise fusion of Spanish guitar and melodic piano chords. "With a beautiful voice that is both fragile and husky, but distinctly hers, Elizabeth McGovern lends a quirky charm to the deft musicianship of the Hot Heads. Inspired by the likes of Leonard Cohen & Joni Mitchell, the band delves deep into their musical ability, conjuring thoughts of love and lust. An alluring vocalist, McGovern blends sultry, seductive and sweet, making this latest album their best yet."

Since its release, the band have toured the UK and have or are appearing at the Isle of Wight festival (for the second year running), Cornbury Festival, Wychwood Festival and have secured 9 nights at Edinburgh's Fringe Festival plus a prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival slot opening for Sting. They are due to headline a second UK tour in the autumn and are special guests to Mike & the Mechanics anniversary tour in 2014.

The band are currently in the studio recording new tracks with Sting producer 'Kipper' which include guest appearances by Nashville legends Gretchen Peters and her husband Barry Walsh.

The Virgin Soldiers and The Cast Of The Dreamers

In the year that commemorates 100 years since the beginning of the First World War two young musicians from the band Virgin Soldiers, James Beeny and Gina Georgio, have written a contemporary and inspiring musical drama called The Dreamers based on a little known World War 1 hero from Kent.

The Dreamers will be performed live by Virgin Soldiers and a cast of 25 talented young men and women from all over Kent and Sussex at the Assembly Hall Theatre Tunbridge Wells in October.

In the run up to the show the cast has released the track, The Dreamers Anthem, which has been released to raise funds for Stars Foundation for Cerebral Palsy and Never Such Innocence, set up for the centenary to raise funds for five military charities.

Portsmouth Military Wives Choir

The Military Wives Choirs Foundation charity was created following the enormous success of the No.1 single Wherever You Are, which raised over half a million pounds for SSAFA and The Royal British Legion. Founded in September 2013 by a small group of military wives to build a lasting legacy of choirs for women in the military community, the Foundation helps women around the UK share the enjoyment and pride that comes from singing together. Ultimately, we bring women in the military community closer together through singing.

The Spitfire Sisters

The Spitfire Sisters are a three part vocal harmony group hailing from the home of the Supermarine Spitfire on the sunny South Coast. The trio emerged onto the vintage music scene in 2011 and have been steadily building a reputation by recreating the vintage sounds of the ‘30s and ‘40s through nostalgic Andrews Sisters style harmonies. Band members Louisa Revolta, Anna Harding and Hannah Williams have created a live act which includes numerous swinging classics and some old takes on some new tunes! The Spitfire Sisters create the perfect soundtrack for weddings, private parties, business functions or a good old fashioned boogie woogie!

Red Devils

The Parachute Regiment Freefall Team www.reddevilsonline.com - The Red Devils carry out more than 100 spectacular parachute displays each year at public events worldwide. The team can jump by day or night onto land or water into a variety of arenas and stadia, as long as it's safe and technically possible weather permitting we'll do it. We're also versatile in that if you have an idea for your special event such as us jumping in wearing your team's strip or perhaps delivering a match ball or a special gift for a VIP we would be very happy to discuss it with you... the sky is literally the limit!
Although the Display Team are highly qualified and capable, there is always the possibility of an unforeseen accident or incident. Spectators who watch the display do so at their own risk with regard to what they witness. No related spectator claims will be supported.

Great War Display Team

The Team currently has 5 different types of aircraft available to fly, with 9 aircraft in total. For a large show with a long crowd line the full Team, with all 9 aircraft dog-fighting together, presents a spectacle which can be seen nowhere else. As well as the years of experience which the team has accrued, this year's influx of new aircraft and pilots will bring new blood and fresh ideas which can only result in an even better display.

Probably the most famous and best loved of all Spitfires still flying today, MH434 was built in 1943 at Vickers, Castle Bromwich. Since 1970, it has participated across Europe as a key performer in the most famous air shows. www.ofmc.co.uk www.mh434.com

B-17 Flying Fortress G-BEDF Sally B

is the last remaining airworthy B-17 in Europe. She is based in the UK from where she flies regularly at air shows, memorial flypasts and commemorative events as a memorial to the USAAF in Europe. Since 1982, Sally B has been operated by Elly Sallingboe of B-17 Preservation with the help of a dedicated team of volunteers and the backing of one of the largest supporters clubs of its kind in the world – the Sally B Supporters Club. Sally B is maintained by Chief Engineer Peter Brown and his team of volunteers, and flown by volunteer experienced professional pilots. Sally B is permanently based at the Imperial War Museum Duxford where she is on static display when not flying. However, the aircraft is not part of the Museum’s own collection and relies solely on charitable donations, sponsorship, sales of souvenirs, and the loyal support of her working team of volunteers and 8,000 Sally B Supporters Club Members, one of the largest clubs of its kind in the world. Bearing this in mind, it is incredible to think that this aircraft has been flying in the UK for 38 years.

Please note that aerial displays are weather dependent.

Oxfam and DFID Humanitarian Camp

Become a humanitarian hero with Oxfam. Learn more about what British organisations and the UK Government do to help civilians affected by war and conflict by visiting the humanitarian camp at Highclere. Humanitarian organisations were established to alleviate hunger and suffering of civilians in Europe after the two world wars. Oxfam dates back to 1942 when the Oxford Committee for the Relief of Famine petitioned the British government to lift the Allied blockade of Greece in order to save millions facing starvation under Nazi occupation. Today, Oxfam is one of the world's leading humanitarian organisations, providing emergency relief and assistance to more than 6 million people in more than 27 countries worldwide. The Department for International Development (DFID) was set up in 1997 and now leads the UK Government’s work to end extreme poverty, working directly in 28 countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.To celebrate that history - and inspire a new generation of humanitarian heroes - Oxfam and DFID are pitching their tents at Highclere Castle to showcase the best of British humanitarianism abroad. Visit our simulated camp to discover how Oxfam and DFID provide water, sanitation and other life-saving support. Erect a water tap stand, play hygiene promotion games used in refugee camps, meet our humanitarian team and find out more about how you can become a humanitarian hero. Nursing Memorial Appeal

www.newcavendishclub.co.uk/nursingappeal.php During the First and Second World War at least 1,500 nurses gave their lives in service. Their sacrifice however, has never been properly recognised. Despite their role being highly valued and appreciated by the troops, nurses have received little political and public recognition for their wartime work.

We hope to raise £100,000 by summer 2018 for a permanent memorial - at an estimated cost of £50,000 - with the additional money used for educational purposes, to draw attention to the nature of the nurses' work, their experiences in war-time and their sacrifice. We plan to unveil their memorial at the National Arboretum in November 2018.

Emma Lawrence

www.facebook.com/emmalawrencesinger Local girl Emma Lawrence, has been writing music since she was 15 and is fast establishing herself as a popular singer/songwriter producing music that displays a maturity well beyond her years. She refers to her music as an acoustic fusion of folk and R&B which has its own distinct style and is very much of the time. National runner up in the recent Open Mic UK Original Song writing Competition, her first single went straight into the Top 40 iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts at 34. Influenced by artists such as Ed Sheeran, Ben Howard and Emilie Sande, her songs reflect the challenges of life faced by young people today and appeals to audiences of all ages. A recent review stated: "her guitar playing was simple and effective and a good base for her powerful, warm and folky voice to sit on. Her vibrato was quick and easily punctured the audience ambiance. An exciting performer." She has been performing around the South for the past 2 years at various music venues and festivals including Basingstoke Live!, Warminster Punchbowl Festival, Newbury Real Ale Festival and Hampshire Oktoberfest. She brought out her debut 8 track EP last spring and is currently working on her new EP which is due out this summer. She is signed to Major Music in London, the country's leading artist development company who have produced singers such as Hattie Keane and Pixie Lott.

In association with the Nursing Memorial Appeal, presents MEMORIES OF WAR a performance of words and music reviving poignant memories from both World Wars.

World War 1 - NO WAY BACK by John Drewry

This drama documentary tells the largely forgotten story of the VAD (Voluntary Aid Detachment). Many were shire girls and vicars’ daughters who couldn’t even boil an egg, but threw themselves into the affray as volunteer nursing assistants (a euphemism for skivvies), living and dying alongside their professional counterparts. And for those who survived, there was no way back to the genteel existence of the Edwardian drawing room. They were changed forever by what they saw and experienced. virtual.theatre@drewrys.com

World War 2 - THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY by Sonja Curtis & John Drewry

A collection of recorded anecdotes from people who were children during the last world war is re-enacted by a group of professional performers, interspersed with songs from the period – evoking the memory of Anne Shelton, Vera Lynn, Bud Flanagan and others. www.drewrys.com
