We are open for between 60 and 70 days each year. We are open for two weeks over Easter, for each of the May Bank holidays, and for two months (Sunday to Thursday) over the summer months. We also open for a few days in early December.
When the Castle and Egyptian Exhibition are open, visitors are very welcome to enjoy various tearooms for coffees, lunches and teas, the very popular gift shop as well as the gardens.
The Egyptian Exhibition lets you explore the fascinating discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun by the 5th Earl of Carnarvon and Howard Carter in 1922. The cellars are very atmospheric and there are replicas from the tomb of Tutankhamun as well as real antiquities.
There are guides in the Castle rooms and the cellars to tell you stories from behind the scenes and help you find out more about some of the works of art throughout the Castle.
