Wednesday 28th June 2017

John A Macdonald was the dominant figure of Canadian confederation and the first Prime Minster of Canada. The man who helped draft the British North American Act and introduce it to Parliament on July 1st 1867 was the 4th Earl of Carnarvon.

We are pleased to be celebrating the role of the Earl of Carnarvon and Highclere Castle in the discussions and drafting of the British North American Act of 1867 which led to the creation of the Dominion of Canada on July 1st 1867. It is now 150 years later and we are delighted to welcome Canadians who are living or travelling in the UK this summer to a special tour and tea at Highclere Castle on Wednesday 28th June 2017 from 14:00pm – 16:30pm.
