Vintage Garden Party at ‘The Real Downton Abbey’

Book Tickets

Tickets are now available for the September Garden Party to be held at Highclere Castle on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th September 2017.

Lord and Lady Carnarvon will host a ‘Roaring Twenties’ Garden Party with all the glamour, sophistication and glitz of the era. Immerse yourself in all that the Real Downton Abbey has to offer: embark on Tours of the Castle; perhaps enjoy a traditional fairground game or two on the lawn, before indulging in a delicious picnic lunch.

The 1920s was famed for its iconic fashion and guests will step back in time, dress in attire from the era, dance to jazz – you simply cannot get any closer to being Hugh Bonneville or Maggie Smith in the award winning TV series. We even have ‘Vintage Victory Rollers’ Hair Salon to provide hair and makeup! Prizes will be awarded by Lord and Lady Carnarvon for the best dressed attendees in a variety of categories including ‘Best Upstairs’, ‘Best Downstairs’ and ‘Best Hat’.Ride on the carousel and admire the vintage cars parked at the front of the Castle. Watch Morris dancing and listen to the brass band.

Highclere Castle, with its magnificent State Rooms, will be open for visitors to explore at their leisure. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Egyptian Exhibition, in the cellars of the Castle, which tells the story of, and contains antiquities from, the tombs that were discovered in Egypt by the 5th Earl of Carnarvon and Howard Carter nearly 100 years ago.

Go for a promenade around the gardens, wander through the Wild Flower Meadow, try a little croquet and enjoy the jazz music.

A light lunch, freshly prepared from the Castle kitchens, and a glass of Pimm’s is included in the ticket price and can be enjoyed in one of our traditional marquees.

The Castle Tea Rooms will be open throughout the weekend for the purchase of teas, coffee, light snacks, scones and cakes.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you for a fun filled weekend!
