Public Opening Information 2017
The Castle opens to the public for around 65 days of the year. Throughout the year, the Castle also hosts special events and open days. See here for all of our upcoming events.
Summer Public Opening Dates
Sunday 9th July - Wednesday 6th September (Sunday to Thursday only).
The Estate is closed on Fridays and Saturdays, with no opportunity to see the Castle.

You have guaranteed entry to the Castle at your given time and date and may wish to book Afternoon Tea at the Coach House (subject to availability).
Admission times refer to the period within which you should begin your visit to the Castle and Exhibition.
Visitors are welcome to visit the Tea Rooms, Gardens and Gift Shop all day, regardless of ticket type.
All tickets are issued as e-tickets and are sent via attachment to a confirmation email. Tickets may also be printed from your online account with Highclere Castle’s Gift Shop under ‘Shop & Tickets’.
We will have walk up tickets available to purchase on each day of public opening. Please see our team at Visitor Reception.
These tickets cannot be pre-booked/reserved but instead must be purchased on your arrival at the gate.
Our quieter periods are between 9:00am-10:00am or after 2:00pm. Last admission is 4pm.
Please note: In extreme cases, due to the number of people on site, we may have to stop selling walk up tickets. As such, we cannot guarantee entry for those without pre-booked tickets.
The Estate opens at 9:30am.
The Castle Tearooms are open from 9:30am.
The Gift Shop is open from 9:30am until 5pm.

*Children under the age of 4 receive complimentary entry and do not need a ticket. However, please note if your order does include an under 4 or a child ticket we regretfully cannot accommodate you for our set Afternoon Tea – our normal tearooms will be open as usual during our public open dates.
HHA Members: Highclere Castle is pleased to be associated with the HHA and welcomes HHA members into the Castle free of charge. However, whilst we do our best to accommodate all visitors we cannot guarantee HHA members admission at a specific time. Members of the HHA who wish to visit the Egyptian Exhibition, must purchase a separate ticket available from Visitor Reception at the Castle Main Gate or at the door to the Exhibition. Please ensure you bring your HHA membership card with you when you visit.
